The "Mark of the Beast" Is Imposed
Only on a "Small Remnant""An apostate church will unite with the powers of earth and hell to place upon the forehead or in the hand, the mark of the beast, and prevail upon the children of God to worship the beast and his image. They will seek to compel them to renounce their allegiance to God's law . . . . Then will the gold be separated from the dross . . . ."
Advent Review and Sabbath Herald, November 8, 1892. When the time of Jacob's trouble comes,
"The seal of the living God is upon His people. This small remnant, unable to defend themselves . . . make God their defense. The decree has been passed by the highest earthly authority that ['this small remnant'] shall worship the beast and receive his mark under pain of persecution and death."Testimonies for the Church, vol. 5, p. 213. "At the time when the danger and depression of the church are greatest,
THE LITTLE COMPANY [Creation 7th Day Adventists] who are standing in the light will be sighing and crying for the abominations that are done in the land. But more especially will their prayers arise in behalf of the [SDA] church because its' members are doing after the manner of the world . . . . They lament and afflict their souls because pride, avarice, selfishness, and deception of almost every kind are in the [SDA] church."Testimonies for the Church, vol. 5, pp. 209-210. "The SAINTS [Creation 7th Day Adventists] will be AN OBSCURE PEOPLE, but little known to the Catholics, but the [SDA] church and nominal Adventists will know of our faith and customs, and will betray the saints and report them

The Parable of the Laborers in the Vineyard is Prophetic
Matthew 20:1-16"The Jews were first called into the vineyard ; but they were proud and self-righteous, and were displeased that the Gentiles, whom they thoroughly despised, were admitted to equal privileges with themselves in the things of the kingdom of God."
Advent Review and Sabbath Herald, July 10, 1894.

The Reformation Churches"The Protestant churches of America,--and those of Europe as well,--so highly favored in receiving the blessings of the Reformation, failed to press forward in the path of reform. Though a few faithful men arose, from time to time, to proclaim new truth and expose long-cherished error, the majority, like the Jews in Christ's day or the papists in the time of Luther, were content to believe as their fathers had believed and to live as they had lived. Therefore religion again degenerated into formalism; and errors and superstitions which would have been cast aside had the church continued to walk in the light of God's word, were retained and cherished. Thus the spirit inspired by the Reformation gradually died out, until there was almost as great need of reform in the Protestant churches as in the Roman Church in the time of Luther. There was the same worldliness and spiritual stupor, a similar reverence for the opinions of men, and substitution of human theories for the teachings of God's word."
The Great Controversy, p. 297-98.
- The Ninth-Hour Laborers:
The Seventh-day Adventist Church"The Roman Church reserves to the clergy the right to interpret the Scriptures. On the ground that ecclesiastics alone are competent to explain God's word, it is withheld from the common people. Though the Reformation gave the Scriptures to all, yet the selfsame principle which was maintained by Rome prevents multitudes in Protestant churches from searching the Bible for themselves. They are taught to accept its teachings as interpreted by the church; and there are thousands who dare receive nothing, however plainly revealed in Scripture, that is contrary to their creed or the established teaching of their church."
The Great Controversy, p. 596. "The eighteenth chapter of Revelation speaks of mystic Babylon, fallen from her high estate to become a persecuting power. Those who keep the commandments of God and have the faith of Jesus are the object of the wrath of this power."
Manuscript Releases Volume Fourteen, p. 152.

The 144,000 Remnant Church
(Creation 7th Day Adventists)"God will not be left without witnesses. The one-hour labourers will be brought in at the eleventh hour, and will consecrate their ability and all their entrusted means to advance the work. These will receive the reward for their faithfulness, because they are true to principle and shun not their duty to declare the whole counsel of God. When those who have had abundance of light throw off the restraint which the Word of God imposes, and make void His law, others will come in to fill their place, and take their crown."
Testimonies to Southern Africa, p. 50. "There are many souls to come out of the ranks of the world, out of the churches--even the Catholic Church--whose zeal will far exceed that of those who have stood in rank and file to proclaim the truth heretofore. For this reason the eleventh hour laborers will receive their penny. These will see the battle coming and will give the trumpet a certain sound. When the crisis is upon us, when the season of calamity shall come, they will come to the front, gird themselves with the whole armor of God, and exalt His law, adhere to the faith of Jesus, and maintain the cause of religious liberty which reformers defended with toil and for which they sacrificed their lives. . . ."
Selected Messages Book 3, p. 386. "At the eleventh hour the Lord will call into his service many faithful workers. Self-sacrificing men and women will step into the places made vacant by apostasy and death. To young men and young women, as well as to those who are older, God will give power from above. With converted minds, converted hands, converted feet, and converted tongues, their lips touched with a living coal from the divine altar, they will go forth into the Master's service, moving steadily onward and upward, carrying the work forward to completion."
