Dear Sister Isenburg:

I read your letter carefully and would like to thank you for your comments and questions.

The General Conference is concerned regarding the improper use of the name Seventh- day Adventist. Why? Because through the media, confusion is very easy. For example, look what happened during the David Koresh situation. The media reported that this was a group of Seventh-day Adventists. We had to send a crisis team down to Waco to clear up the misrepresentation issue.

You have your own name and nobody else can use it without hurting you. In the world of today, it is a matter of responsibility. We don't want to be held responsible for things we have not supported. We don't want our church members around the world to be confused with independent groups or organizations that act contrary to our church beliefs.

Why are we using the court system to protect our name? Because the law has to be respected. The Apostle Paul did the same thing.

My dear Sister Isenburg, may God bless you and thanks again for your questions.

Sincerely yours,

Dr John Graz
